AiR’s programs follow Dr. Vernon Johnson, the pioneer of addiction intervention and the creator of the Johnson Model of intervention. The 1990’s saw the rise of Dr. Johnson’s successor Dr. James Fearing, who began National Counseling Intervention Services (NCIS) in Minneapolis, MN with the goal of educating families about addiction and providing national intervention training. NCIS was the nation’s leading intervention training source until Dr. Fearing’s death in 2002.
Employed and trained by Dr. Fearing as an interventionist in the mid nineties, Andrew Wainwright created AiR in 2002 with the same goal of education and help for those affected by addiction.
